Artist's Comments

This is a kit that is about twelve years old now, and as such, it's very much outdated. It definatly has a good charm to it, but things like mobility and detail definatly suffer compared to more recent kits. Naturally, after I spend two months working on it, a never version is released. Meh.

I'm happy with how this turned out, though- I love this kit. I unfortunatly can't remember the color formulas for most of the colors used here- main body was something like two or three parts red to one part each of white and yellow. Spent a lot of time on some of the inner parts that can't be seen once the kit is assembled.

For a long time this was my very favorite kit, and it's still one of the nicer looking kits on my shelves, even with as old as it is. Kits from this era age very gracefully, at least in terms of visuals.

Fully airbrushed, as always, in an anime style.

I wish I had a better camera to loan you. 2 megapixels just doesn't cut it it. You need someonething with macro/micro settings to do your linework justice.

Beautiful, as usual. Somehow, yours always manages to look like it stepped out of the cartoon. I don't think I've seen any other model craftsmen that can consistently do that. Realism, maybe... accuracy to origin? None like you. <3

looks really good.
I need to get an airbrush soon, it looks so much better when you use it.

thank you thank you. X3 That is exactly what I'm going for. True to the source is what I'm all about.

It's okay, the camera does better than any i've had in the past, and I think it gets at least the general idea across.

An airbrush makes a LOT of difference, but it's really really tricky to use. Honestly, I'd reccomend to anybody that they become comfortable with painting and handbrushing in general before they switch over. I ALWAYS end up needing to handbrush at least a few things on a kit, whether it's the lines or if it's fine details or if it's just a large area I didn't want to worry about covering up.

And airbrush is great, but you need to spend a lot of money for a good one, and a bad one will just hurt you more than help you. If your serious about getting a good airbrush, I reccomend what's called a "dual action" "internal mix" model, from a brand like "paache" or possibly "badger" (Mine is a paache). And it should reasonably be priced around a hundred dollars. On top of that you'll need an air compressor- canned air just doesn't cut it. You can get a basic model (like I use) for another hundred dollars or so.

Amazing. It really reminds me of the 08th MS Team 1/144 suit designs that were released in the 90s. I had a ton of them. They really taught a person how to work the panel lines. Or drove them mad. Probably a little of each...though I think a shorter drive on the madness. Just noticing it now, but the left hand looks tiny compared to the body and the left shoulder armor looks small, too. Is that just a trick of the light or did they really shrink it that much in the first production run?

Also, love your custom color mix. It looks pretty great. I usually use Model Masters ROT RLM 23 (might have got that backward) for Char's pink-ish color. I'm lovin' terrible at figuring colors out, hence why I stick mostly with company bought colors.

The doctor keeps telling me that knives are not suppose to stick in you like that, but I tell him he's never enjoyed the thrilling world of razorblade diving at the rust pit.

The 08th MS Team 1/144 kit of 97 was directly based on the 95 MG- The original MG Zaku always had hands and shoulders about this size, although a few of the MSV kits changed them around a bit. Interestingly, if you ever bought the FG Zaku II, it was based on the Perfect Grade, which was istelf based on a refined version of this MG. This MG can essentially be described as the definitive Zaku II from the time of it's release to the release of the new HGUC Zaku.

Thank you on the color mixing. I'll have to try and remember this formula whenever I get around to doing the HGUC Zaku II Custom... LMAO

Oh, the 08th MS Team kits were amazing at the time. I'm hoping they get a proper HGUC upgrade soon with the release of RX-79. I love Zeonic designs. Mono-eye bad asses I tell ya, gotta love it.
